Falcons place LG Levitre (triceps) on injured reserve

The Atlanta Falcons placed Andy Levitre on injured reserve after the left guard aggravated a left triceps injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Ben Garland will get the start for the Falcons in Saturday’s wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (8:15 p.m. ET).
Garland made three starts in place of Levitre when the latter initially sustained the injury. The 31-year-old lasted just five snaps in Sunday’s 22-10 win over the Carolina Panthers.
“We’re bummed for him, but we do appreciate how hard he worked for it,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said of the Levitre.
Garland, 29, will have the unfortunate task of keeping tabs on Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who had a team-leading 11 sacks and 27 quarterback hits this season.
“Well, it’s not going to be on his own the whole game, ” Quinn said of Garland. “(Donald) plays at a number of different spots. But Aaron’s really having a fantastic year. What makes him unique (is) he has really good get-off and that’s part of being a good defensive tackle. But the use of his hands is excellent. He’s got leverage. He can use his hands, get up field. So all of us, from a challenge standpoint, he’s a factor in this game for sure.”
Also on Tuesday, Falcons promoted running back Terrence Magee to the active roster from the practice squad. Magee has rushed five times for 17 yards in six games spread over two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks.
